Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

For Clients New to Health and Medicare Insurance

1. What is the role of a Health and Medicare insurance broker?

A broker acts as your personal advisor, helping you understand your insurance options, compare plans from different companies, and choose coverage that meets your needs. We work independently, so our focus is on helping you—not selling for any specific carrier.

2. Why do I need health insurance?

Health insurance provides financial protection in case you need medical care. It helps cover the cost of doctor visits, hospital stays, prescriptions, preventive care, and more—making unexpected health expenses more manageable.

3. What is Medicare?

Medicare is a federal health insurance program primarily for people age 65 and older, as well as some younger individuals with certain disabilities. It consists of different parts (A, B, C, and D), each covering different services.

4. What are Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D?

  • Part A: Hospital insurance (inpatient care, skilled nursing, hospice)

  • Part B: Medical insurance (doctor visits, outpatient care, preventive services)

  • Part C: Medicare Advantage Plans (all-in-one alternative to Original Medicare, offered by private insurers)

  • Part D: Prescription drug coverage

5. How do I choose the right health or Medicare plan?

Choosing the right plan depends on your health needs, preferences, and budget. We’ll learn about your situation, explain plan features and costs, and help you find the plan that offers the best value and coverage.

6. Does it cost extra to use a broker?

No. There is no additional cost for you to use our services. We are compensated by the insurance companies, but our priority is always what’s best for you.

7. What does “independent brokerage” mean?

We are not tied to any one insurance company. We have access to multiple insurers and plans, which allows us to provide unbiased advice and a wider selection of options.

8. When can I enroll in a Medicare plan?

The Initial Enrollment Period starts three months before the month you turn 65, includes your birthday month, and continues for three months after. There are also annual enrollment periods and special circumstances that may allow you to enroll at other times.
